About CarnivoreTips.com

CarnivoreTips.com is an independent resource dedicated to information about the carnivore diet. I'm not selling a program, a supplement line, or a coaching package. My goal is simpler: to summarize what the science actually says, explain it in plain language, and help beginners make informed decisions. Including the decision that the diet may not be right for them.
Who I am
My name is Mark Smrtnik, and CarnivoreTips.com is an independent site I built and run on my own. I read peer-reviewed nutrition literature, track new studies, and write the content for English, Slovenian, and German readers, drawing on both the research and the three years I spent following a strict carnivore diet myself. I'm a writer and researcher, not your personal physician, which is exactly why every health article points you back to a qualified professional for individual advice.
My editorial process
Every article follows the same workflow before it goes live:
- Research first. I start from primary sources (peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews, and official health data) rather than from other blogs.
- Cite at the claim. Major claims and statistics link directly to the underlying study (typically PubMed or the publishing journal) so you can verify them yourself.
- Represent uncertainty honestly. Where the evidence is weak, mixed, or short-term, I say so plainly. I don't inflate anecdote into proof.
- Safety & accuracy review. Health content is reviewed for safety and accuracy before publication, with particular attention to claims that could affect medication, pregnancy, children, or existing conditions.
- Update over time. When the literature changes or I find an error, I revise the article and refresh its update date.
AI use disclosure
Some content on CarnivoreTips.com may be drafted, translated, summarized, or edited with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. I review every article for accuracy, clarity, and consistency before publication. Sources are independently checked, and AI-generated content is never published without human review.
How I handle the science
The carnivore diet has encouraging short-term data but very little long-term controlled research. I treat the largest survey to date, the 2021 Lennerz et al. Harvard-affiliated study, and the 2026 Nutrients scoping review as central evidence, while being clear about their limitations: survey data is self-reported and self-selected, and a scoping review of nine studies is not the same as decades of randomized trials. I link primary sources wherever possible so you never have to take my word for it.
Funding and independence
The site is supported by advertising and optional reader donations. Analytics and advertising are managed through Google's certified consent tool (Consent Mode). For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland they stay off until you give consent, and you can review or change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. I'm open to working with brands, producers, and suppliers whose products fit the carnivore way of eating, and I welcome partnership and sponsorship enquiries.
